Tom Hanks and his frequent collaborator Robert Zemeckis have teamed up for the new movie Here, and Sony Pictures has just released a trailer for it.
The actor and the director, who previously worked on Forrest Gump, Cast Away, The Polar Express, and Disney’s live-action Pinocchio remake, are back together for a drama with a quirky premise.
The whole film takes place from one point of view, speeding through millions of years of history to the building of a house.

Things then slow down a bit to show us Hanks, who’s been digitally de-aged to play a teenager named Richard, as he woos a potential love interest named Margaret, played a similarly de-aged Robin Wright (Blade Runner 2049, the DCEU).
The film shows them building a life together in the house, with the ups and downs, the parties, and the nights reminiscing over old clips.
The trailer ends with an elderly Richard bringing in Margaret, who is seemingly dealing with memory loss, for what might be one last look at the place.
Joining Hanks, Wright, and Zemeckis for the concept similar to a feature-length version of Inside No 9 are Paul Bettany (Star Wars, the MCU), W1A‘s Ophelia Lovibond, Downton Abbey‘s Michelle Dockery, Yellowstone‘s Kelly Reilly, and The Great‘s Gwilym Lee.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Zemeckis shared his hope that this film can push through the ‘uncanny valley’ effect that happens so often with digital de-ageing.
“It only works because the performances are so good,” he said. “Both Tom and Robin understood instantly that, ‘Okay, we have to go back and channel what we were like 50 years ago or 40 years ago, and we have to bring that energy, that kind of posture, and even raise our voices higher. That kind of thing.”
