The Bikeriders gets a new trailer, teasing an intense story for stars Austin Butler and Tom Hardy. Written and directed by Jeff Nichols, The Bikeriders is inspired by Danny Lyon’s 1967 photobook of the same name. The upcoming film follows Butler’s Benny as he joins the Vandals MC in Chicago, which is run by Johnny (Hardy). Benny eventually becomes torn between his loyalty to an increasing violent gang and his love for Kathy (Jodie Comer).

Ahead of The Bikeriders‘ release date this summer, Rotten Tomatoes Trailers releases a new trailer for the film. Check it out below:

The trailer teases how the Vandals MC become a gang increasingly involved in criminal activities, and Benny quickly finds himself in the thick of it. Johnny, in particular, is shown to have a lot of power as he casually orders gang members to burn down the bar in which Benny was beaten.

There’s Are Reasons To Be Optimistic About Austin Butler & Tom Hardy’s New Movie

Although The Bikeriders has had a rocky road making it to theaters, there are a number of elements working in the movie’s favor. Butler himself is reason to be optimistic, as the actor’s star power has increased dramatically since the film was first announced. After making it big with Elvis in 2022, the actor had a relatively quiet 2023. Butler has had a great 2024 so far, however, not only starring in Apple TV Plus’ Masters of the Air, but featuring prominently as part of the cast of Dune: Part Two, the biggest movie of the year so far.

The Bikeriders‘ cast, in general, is very strong. In addition to Hardy and Comer, the latter of whom is very much a star on the rise, the movie features performances from Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook, Norman Reedus, and Mike Faist. In addition to a strong cast, reviews for The Bikeriders suggest it’s actually a good film, meaning there’s a better chance it will generate strong word-of-mouth. The film currently holds a strong 83% on Rotten Tomatoes with 36 reviews, which certainly sets it up for success.

As the last few years have shown, however, it’s still very easy for good films to fly under the radar. The Bikeriders won’t have the big marketing push that something like Dune: Part Two had, and a film about a motorcycle gang is likely to not appeal to all viewers. It remains to be seen how The Bikeriders fares in theaters, but there’s definitely reason to be optimistic.
