Ahead of its release in Australian cinemas this September, RUNT, based on Craig Silvey’s best-selling novel of the same name, has just unveiled its first trailer.
The story, which revolves around 11-year-old Annie Shearer and her best friend and adopted stray, Runt, is directed by John Sheed (H is for Happiness), and features an all-star cast including Jai Courtney, Celeste Barber and Deborah Mailman.

The film was short around York and Perth last year, and you’ll no doubt recognise a few locations in its first trailer:
Nine-year-old Lily LaTorre plays the hero of the story, Annie Shearer, while rescue dog Squid stars in the titular role.
“I am so proud of this beautiful, uplifting film,” said author Silvey. “Our stellar cast and talented team have perfectly captured the heart and humour of the book, and I can’t wait to share RUNT with audiences of all ages throughout Australia.”
RUNT hits cinemas nationally on Thursday 19 September.
