EXCLUSIVE: Here’s your exclusive trailer for Lilja Ingolfsdottir’s feature debut Loveable, which has its world premiere in the main competition section of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival next week.
The film, which is produced by The Worst Person in the World producer Thomas Robsahm, is described as a “heartfelt interpersonal drama” which sees 40-year-old Maria (Helga Guren), a mother of four, struggle to save her marriage when her husband says he wants a divorce. It’s an exploration about a break-up but also a woman’s opportunity for self-knowledge, growth and being forced to confront unconscious and dysfunctional patterns within herself.
Oddgeir Thune and Elisabeth Sand also star in the film, which Ingolfsdottir also wrote. Robsahm produces for Nordisk Film Production A/S and Amarcord with support from the Norwegian Film Institute and Nordisk Film & TV Fund. Øystein Mamen is the cinematographer.
Loveable, which won best upcoming Nordic project at the Finnish Film Affair, has been part of the Norwegian Film Institute’s Neo talent program, a program is aimed at film directors and series creators who want to debut in longer formats. The goal has been for the Neo scheme to encompass and cultivate strong storytelling voices and artistic courage.
TrustNordisk is handling international sales for Loveable with Nordisk Film Distribution scheduling a local release on October 11, 2024.
The film will compete for Karlovy Vary’s coveted Crystal Globe prize in the main competition of the festival after it premieres on July 2.
