The trailer for Kanguva, starring Suriya, was released yesterday. Directed by Siruthai Siva, the film is meant to boost his reputation after the disaster of Annaatthe.
The trailer shows off some impressive visuals and hints at a large-scale story with intense action. Suriya and Bobby Deol play rival tribal leaders, which fits well with current action film trends.

However, there are a few issues with the trailer. It seems to mix different myths and legends without clearly explaining the plot. Bobby Deol still seems to be in the ‘Animal’ mode and seems out of place, and his dubbing isn’t great.
There’s also confusion about the film’s setting. The trailer only focuses on a historical period, but the producer has said most of the movie is set in modern-day Goa and the period setting only lasts for a few minutes.
Additionally, Disha Patani, who plays the female lead, isn’t shown in the trailer, raising questions about whether her role is part of the contemporary setting.

The trailer might confuse viewers who might be expecting a complete historical period drama.
The makers should address these issues and make sure the film’s true setting and story are clear before the release. There’s still time to fix these problems and manage expectations properly.
