TOHO animation dropped a new trailer for My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next, the fourth feature film to release in the anime franchise. Set to hit theaters in Japan in August, anticipation continues to build for the movie, and now we’ve got a brand new trailer.
Although we still don’t have an official synopsis for My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next, we have received numerous hints in the form of visual teasers and trailers, like this one.
Not only does today’s trailer give us another solid look at the highly anticipated film, but also teases the theme song, “Homunculus,” performed by Vaundy.
We now know that My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next will take place between Season 6 and Season 7 of the anime series, and will introduce a new mysterious villain known as “Dark Might” — who totally looks and sounds like an evil version of All Might. We don’t quite know what his whole story is, but we have learned that he’s obsessed with a new original character called Anna Scervino.
Anna Scervino is the daughter of the wealthy Scervino family who possesses a special “Quirk” that has drawn the interest of Dark Might. We also know that Anna has a relationship with Giulio Gandini, a mysterious man described as “calm and collected, polite in word and deed, but sometimes shows glimpses of his rough side.”
My Hero Academia series creator Kohei Horikoshi is serving as general supervisor and providing original character designs for the film. Tensai Okamura is directed at studio BONES with Yosuke Kuroda providing the script, Yoshihiko Umakoshi on character designs and music by Yuki Hayashi.
My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next will be released in Japan on August 2, 2024. With Anime Expo 2024 taking place next month, there’s a good chance we will learn more about the movie. There’s no official panel dedicated to the film, but there is a My Hero Academia Special Event, which could provide more details.
So far, no North American release date for My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next has been announced yet, but seeing as how the previous films were released stateside, we should be getting one soon. In the meantime, fans can continue to catch new episodes of the My Hero Academia anime series, which is now streaming its seventh season and building towards a climactic finale.
