Popular Soccer Anime Gets Season 3 & Live-Action Film Announcement – Comic Book Movies and Superhero Movie News
Blue Lock anime has received the confirmation for a Season 3 and its live-action film adaptation. Blue Lock originated as a manga series from writer Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrator Yusuke Nomura. The namesake anime, developed by Studio Eight Bit, premiered in Japan in October 2022. The series returned with its sophomore season in October 2024.
Blue Lock to get live-action movie before Season 3
The makers of Blue Lock announced on Sunday at the Blue Lock Egoist Fest 2025 that the anime will receive a sequel anime series or Season 3 and a live-action adaptation. The latter will come out in Summer 2026, right around the time of 2026 FIFA World Cup, which takes place in the US, Canada, and Mexico between June 11 to July 19, 2026.
Given that Blue Lock Season 3 doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date, it’s probably safe to assume that it will premiere after the live-action movie. As the previous two seasons came out in the fourth quarters of their respective years, it’s possible that the show repeats this trend and releases Season 3 in late 2026.
In a statement, Kaneshiro said (translated), “A sequel has been confirmed!!! Yay… Thank you, Egoist production team…! This marks a new start for Kiyoshi and us! We will create this with full ego, eyes rolling, and tongues hanging out, so please wait on your godd— knees! (via Blue Lock PR)
This likely means that Season 3 will adapt the Neo Egoist League Arc from the manga series. Meanwhile, Nomura also expressed excitement about the announcement. “It’s finally been announced! A new anime series!! The New Hero Wars is finally being adapted into a film Please look forward to the exploits of these overseas characters, who are even more eccentric than the members of Blue Lock!!”
An animated feature, Blue Lock: Episode Nagi, came out earlier in 2024. CREDEUS (Kingdom, Golden Kamuy films) is producing the Blue Lock live-action film.
