Serious People Trailer Previews Acclaimed Doppleganger Comedy Movie
ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive trailer for Serious People, previewing the upcoming comedy exploring what it means to be a director, parent, and more. Serious People is set to release in theaters on November 14, 2025, and then will come out digitally on December 16, 2025, when it will be available on all major video-on-demand platforms.
“Successful Music Video director Pasqual Gutierrez is faced with a dilemma on the due date of his first-born child: a job offer for his biggest video yet,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Frustrated with his poor work/life balance, Gutierrez casts a doppelgänger named Miguel to take over his work duties in his director duo Cliqua as he prepares to take an extended paternity leave.”

What happens in the Serious People trailer?
The trailer for Serious People follows the story of Pasqual, a music video director who hires a doppleganger to play him so he can go on paternity leave. Things quickly go awry, however, as all of his relationships, including the one with his passions, begin to spiral as a result.
Serious People is written and directed by Pasqual Gutierrez and Ben Mullinkosson. Gutierrez also stars in the film, alongside Christine Yuan, RJ Sanchez, and Miguel Huerta. The film had a hit run at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where it earned positive reviews from critics.
