Nearly a month after its premiere, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor shared his thoughts on the series, describing it as “absolute OTT gold.”

The series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, starring Lakshya Lalwani, Bobby Deol and Sahher Bambba in lead roles, has won audiences over with its sharp satire, fearless direction and strong performances. The credit goes to director Aryan Khan, son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who made his directorial debut with the show, which premiered on OTT giant Netflix in September this year.

Now, after a month of its premiere, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor took out some time to review the series, calling it an “absolute OTT Gold”.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the politician shared that he was not well for the past few days, and then his sister, Smita Tharoor, suggested he watch the series, which left him completely impressed.

He wrote, “I’ve had a cold and cough for two days and had to cancel engagements. My team and my sister, @smitatharoor, got me to spend some time away from the computer watching a @NetflixIndia series, and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself: absolute #OTT GOLD!”

“I just finished watching Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, “The Ba***ds of Bollywood,” and I’m struggling to find words of praise. It takes some time to grow on you, but once it does, you’re completely hooked! The writing is crisp, the director is brave, and the sheer audacity of this satire is just what Bollywood needed. A brilliant, often amusing, sometimes heartbreaking, and always unflinching look beyond the glamour, sending up every cinematic cliche with razor-like wit—and a series of insider jokes that let the viewer into the act and behind the scenes,” Tharoor added.

The politician continued, “The seven compelling episodes mark the arrival of a true storytelling powerhouse. Take a bow, Aryan Khan—you’ve delivered a masterpiece: “TheBa***dsOfBollywood” is brilliant!”

Lastly, he shared a message for Shah Rukh Khan, writing, “SRK: from one father to another, let me say: you must be so proud!!”

The show also features Raghav Juyal, Mona Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Rajat Bedi and Anya Singh in key roles. It even includes cameo appearances from several big-name stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, SS Rajamouli, Karan Johar, Arshad Warsi, Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.

In a recent interview, Rajat Bedi, who plays Jaraj Saxena, confirmed that Season 2 of The Ba**ds of Bollywood is already in the works.
