ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive teaser trailer for Rhythm Is a Dancer, the upcoming coming-of-age comedy drama from lead star and director Lauren Caster. The movie will have its world premiere at the upcoming Austin Film Festival on Sunday, October 26, at 5:15 p.m. CT.

“In the film, Ro, a struggling dancer, returns home to meet her biological father for the first time. Raised by her mother, Susan, a lesbian who chose insemination, Ro wrestles with her unconventional family past,” reads the synopsis. “At her new job, she bonds with three lively octogenarians who help her rediscover her roots, her family, and herself.”

What happens in the Rhythm Is a Dancer teaser trailer?

The video features Caster as a dancer who has finally been given the chance to meet his biological father. The teaser trailer highlights how this encounter will change her life. Joining Caster are Tate Donovan as Gregory, Amy Aquino as Susan, Jasmine Ashanti as Amber, Kevin Brief as Steve, Conor Donally as Zach, and Marianne Muellerleile as Ethel.

Rhythm Is a Dancer is written and directed by Caster in her feature-length directorial debut. Additional cast members include Beau Billingslea, Noah Brown, Robert Costanzo, Mitch Eakins, Ellen Gerstein, Floriana Lima, Darlene Vogel, Tatum Langton, and more.

The movie is also produced by Caster, with Joe M. Han serving as its cinematographer. The creative team also consists of art director David Peters, costume designer Haley Meeker, and set director Catch Henson. Robin Conly and Joe M. Han are set as co-producers.
