The Mandalorian and Grogu return in epic first trailer for Star Wars movie
What’s happened: The first trailer for Pedro Pascal’s Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, has been revealed, teasing the iconic duo’s latest intergalactic adventure.
- The trailer shows Din Djarin (Pascal) and Grogu watching Rotta the Hutt (Jeremy Allen White), son of Jabba the Hutt, address a crowd in a colosseum.
- Din and Grogu meet with Sigourney Weaver’s new character, Ward, a veteran pilot, colonel, and leader of the New Republic’s Adelphi Rangers.
- Din also blows up an Imperial AT-AT from the inside, causing it to fall off a snowy cliff.
This is important because: This new Star Wars film is a continuation of the hit Disney+ series, The Mandalorian.
- The trailer has teased Din and Grogu’s battle against the Imperial Remnant and possibly Rotta the Hutt.
- The Mandalorian‘s story was originally supposed to continue in a fourth season, but production delays made Lucasfilm change its plans to focus on a movie instead.
- The film is directed by The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau and co-written by Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm’s chief executive officer and long-time Star Wars franchise writer.
Why should I care? The Mandalorian and Grogu will mark the first Star Wars movie release since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
- The Mandalorian and Grogu‘s performance in theaters could lead to Lucasfilm developing a fourth season of The Mandalorian.
- It could also pave the way for Lucasfilm to develop more Star Wars films beyond Star Wars: Starfighter.
OK, what’s next? The Mandalorian and Grogu will premiere exclusively in theaters on May 26, 2026.
- Stay tuned for more info about The Mandalorian and Grogu.
- Another trailer for the film should come out in the months ahead.
