‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ teaser reveals cosmic adventure for 2026

The title draws inspiration from Nintendo’s hugely popular 2007 video game ‘Super Mario Galaxy’, which transported players into space-themed adventures with Mario hopping across planets and battling familiar foes in orbit.
Fans have been speculating about the sequel ever since ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ became a global box office giant in 2023, earning over $1.3 billion.
The announcement also comes at a meaningful time, just as the iconic ‘Super Mario Bros.’ franchise celebrates its 40th anniversary. The first Mario game was released in September 1985, forever changing video game history.
To mark the reveal, a short teaser dropped. It shows Mario peacefully napping under a tree, while Princess Peach’s castle shines in the distance. As the camera slowly pans toward the sky, a sense of adventure builds.
Fans also got quick glimpses of familiar characters including Monty Mole, Cheep Cheeps swimming about, and a few cheerful Toads going about their day.

Returning to lend their voices are the same star cast from the previous film: Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Behind the scenes, the sequel once again brings back producers Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto, the legendary creator of Mario.
The directing duo Aaron Horvarth and Michael Jelenic, who helmed the first film, are also returning.
The first ‘Super Mario Bros. Movie’ told the origin story of Mario and Luigi, starting with their lives as plumbers in Brooklyn before stumbling into the magical Mushroom Kingdom through a mysterious green pipe.
Now, with ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’, the adventure looks ready to expand far beyond the Mushroom Kingdom.
