This “wild ride” Netflix movie with Taskmaster stars is coming this month
Netflix has released a brand new trailer for its upcoming movie The Twits, featuring Taskmaster stars Johnny Vegas and Jason Mantzoukas. Based on Roald Dahl‘s classic children’s book of the same name, the animated film is set for a global release on Netflix on Friday 17 October.
Described as a “hysterically funny, wild ride of a film”, The Twits sees Vegas take on the role of Mr Twit, while The Good Wife’s Margo Martindale is set to voice Mrs Twit.
Directed and co-written by Zootopia’s Phil Johnston, the star-studded voice cast also includes Hollywood actor Natalie Portman, Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, Charlie Berens, Nicole Byer and Alan Tudyk.
The film follows Mr and Mrs Twit, the “meanest, smelliest, nastiest people in the world” who own a dangerous amusement park named Twitlandia, as they attempt to take over the town.
The synopsis reads: “When the Twits rise to power in their town, two brave children and a family of magical Muggle-Wumps, are forced to become as tricky as the Twits in order to save the city.”

Per the trailer, the new film will feature some classic tricks from the book, including the Wormy Spaghetti and the Dreaded Shrinks.
As the trailer shows, the Twits “declare war on some local orphan children” while two brave children named Beesha (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and Bubsy (Ryan Anderson Lopez) team up with the magical animals in order to foil their plans.
In a newly released quote to accompany the trailer, Johnston said: “On behalf of the massive gaggle of weirdos who made this movie, we can’t wait for the world to meet our strange, ugly baby.”

The film’s soundtrack will include three original songs by Talking Heads frontman David Byrne and Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams.
Williams said in a statement: “Being a part of this movie is like one pinch-me moment after another. My favorite Roald Dahl book growing up was The Twits.
“I’m drawn to learning about twisted characters like Mr and Mrs Twit and The Wormwoods from Matilda. The way Phil and Daisy adapted the original story was really exciting to me, as was the animation style.”
The Twits is released on Netflix Friday, 17 October.
