Today’s Peacock Top 3 Includes an “Undeniably Fun” ’90s Adventure (That Has Only Gotten More Popular Over Time)
When it comes to the biggest streaming services around, it sometimes feels like Peacock doesn’t get enough love. Arguably the most affordable of the major services, Peacock also contains one of the strongest streaming libraries of the bunch, with its lineup changing each and every month. There are always great streaming options on Peacock, but today it feels like there are even more awesome choices than usual.
First and foremost, the current number one movie on Peacock’s own streaming charts is an all-time adventure film from the ’90s that everyone should enjoy at some point (it’s sequel is also available on the service). Today’s list will also highlight one of the zaniest shows on TV and the Jordan Peele blockbuster that doesn’t get enough love. Let’s dive in!
The Mummy (1999)

As a millennial movie fan, there is a unique kind of joy that comes from opening a streaming service like Peacock and seeing 1999’s The Mummy sitting atop the charts in the year 2025. It feels intoxicating and, frankly, vindicating. The movie we’ve been shouting about from the rooftops for more than 25 years is genuinely popular in the world of streaming. That rules.
The original Mummy with Boris Karloff is iconic and dreamlike, a perfect character study of a love-scorned monster. 1999’s The Mummy isn’t that at all, though it does have a lot of great monsters and is one of the hottest movies ever put to film.
Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz star in a true adventure movie (the kind we hardly get anymore) about archeologists accidentally opening the tomb of a 3,000-year-old emperor. It’s rapturously silly and enormous in its scope, a movie that somehow feels timeless despite the some of the effects aging like milk. Plainly put, The Mummy is some of the most fun you’ll have on Peacock (or really any other streaming service) right now.

Speaking of totally silly and tons of fun, have you watched Twisted Metal yet? Two seasons in and this Peacock original might be one of the wackiest, most enjoyable shows on TV.
The video game of the same name that the show is based on doesn’t offer a ton of groundwork in the way of a story, considering it’s really just a game where crazy-looking vehicles try to tear each other apart. But the Twisted Metal series found a way to take that concept and turn it into something sustainable, darkly hilarious, and surprisingly thoughtful. All 22 episodes are available to stream now.
Nope (2022)

I’m not sure if I’d call Nope Jordan Peele’s “best” movie, given how untouchable Get Out has felt ever since it was released, but the director’s third feature is easily the one I’ve watched the most. It’s also the one I recommend to anybody who will listen.
Peele blends horror, sci-fi, adventure, and Western genres into one explosive, unexpected hit with Nope. Around every corner this movie will surprise you; not with plot twists, but simply in the nature with which it consistently shows you something new. It’s also got some incredible performances and a couple of the most jaw-dropping moments I’ve seen in years (just hearing the name Chris Kattan still sends a chill down my spine).
At its core, Nope is a movie about the evil nature of spectacle, but it’s also a damn good time that has the same vibe of horror blockbusters of years past. Tonally, think along the lines of Poltergeist, Fright Night, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It’s a magical film that shouldn’t be missed.
