Death Stranding Is Getting Not One But Two Movie Adaptations 1

It’s no secret that Hideo Kojima is a huge movie buff, and maybe that’s why his studio’s game is being adapted not just once, but twice.

As reported by Deadline, Death Stranding is getting an “adult-targeted” animated feature film in addition to the previously announced live-action flick.

The animated movie will be a collaboration between Kojima Productions and Line Mileage, and Aaron Guzikowski is on board to write the screenplay.

Guzikowski’s previous works include Raised by Wolves, Papillon, and Prisoners.

Death Stranding’s animated film will feature an original story set within its world, rather than directly following the first game’s narrative.

“I love the world of Death Stranding, it’s so creatively freeing, so beautifully dark and yet hopeful; I’m so excited and honored that Hideo Kojima, whose work I’ve long admired, has invited me to dwell within his creation, to birth new stories into this fertile, mind-bending universe,” Guzikowski says.

Again, this is a separate project to the already-announced live-action film, which is in production at A24 and being directed by Michael Sarnoski.
