Acclaimed actor Emily Blunt seems on track to secure her first collaboration with one of Hollywood’s greatest directors. The Oscar-nominated star looks set to board Steven Spielberg’s rumored UFO film, set to debut in 2026.

Per Deadline, Blunt is in talks to star in Spielberg’s planned event film at Universal Pictures and his Amblin Entertainment imprint. Though a deal hasn’t been closed, early talks involving Blunt have been encouraging, with The Fall Guy star potentially boarding what’s been described as a two-hander project. Should an agreement be finalized, it would be the first Spielberg-helmed movie Blunt would feature in, though she previously appeared in 2016’s The Girl on the Train, which was produced by Amblin.

Emily Blunt Has a Strong Relationship With Universal

Blunt has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Universal, recently starring in the highly acclaimed biographical thriller, Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan. Oppenheimer became the highest-grossing biopic and second highest-earning R-rated movie ever, winning seven Academy Awards and earning Blunt a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nod for her portrayal of Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer. She also collaborated with Universal on David Leitch’s The Fall Guy, which was well-received critically but bombed at the box office despite also featuring Barbie‘s Oscar-nominated star, Ryan Gosling.
