Kazik Radwanski’s fourth film is set to premiere at the IFC next month, on September 13th, and has just released the first trailer to the public. Matt and Mara is a love drama starring Matt Johnson as Matt and Deragh Campbell as Mara who has worked with Radwaski previously on Anne at 13,000 ft. The film follows the story of Mara a creative writing professor who in her struggling marriage with an experimental musician finds herself rekindling an old flame in the form of Matt an author she had known long ago. After being let down by her husband Mara and Matt go on a road trip to a conference out of town for Mara resulting in their feelings coming to light.
Originally the feature film debuted at Berlinale where it turned heads and soon found its way to IFC. Radwanski is no stranger to the film festival circuit and could be intending to continue with more art house films after the success of Matt and Mara. Radwanski’s previous accomplishments include Anne at 13,000 ft from the 2019 Toronto Film Festival and Tower from the London International Film Festival in 2012. Dan Montgomery and Candice Napoleone produced the film Matt and Mara with executive producers Neil Mathieson, Matthew Miller, Matt Johnson, Kazik Radwanski, and Dan Montgomery.
Matt and Mara will see U.S. distribution sometime after September with the Cinema Guild handling the release to theaters.
