Not for the first time, author George R. R. Martin has teased the possibility of Elden Ring coming to the big screen.

Known for fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire, Martin famously made contributions to the lore of FromSoftware’s beloved open world RPG.

Speaking to IGN, he stated there’s “some talk about making a movie out of Elden Ring”.

However, because of his ongoing work on his aforementioned novels, Martin isn’t sure he can commit to a potential film. “We’ll see if [the Elden Ring movie] comes to pass and what the extent of my involvement was, I don’t know,” he told IGN. “I’m a few years behind with my latest book [The Winds of Winter], so that also limits the amount of things that I can do.”

As mentioned, this is now the second time Martin has publicly mentioned a possible Elden Ring adaptation. Back in July 2024, he teased an Elden Ring film or TV series on his blog.

Before that, FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki commented that he’s open to the idea of an Elden Ring movie, but that it’d need to be made with a “very strong partner”.

So, it sounds like conversations about an Elden Ring flick continue to be had. It feels like it has potential, and there have been some solid video game films in the last few years, so perhaps now is the time to make it happen.
