Godzilla x Kong’s box office numbers continue to stay strong past its fourth weekend, allowing it to become the third biggest MonsterVerse movie to date.

Inching closer to the $500 million mark globally, The New Empire has surpassed its predecessor, Godzilla vs. Kong. It is currently on track to become the highest-grossing MonsterVerse film.

Godzilla x Kong’s box office roars past $485 Million worldwide

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire brought in $9.4 million domestically on its fourth weekend to be the third highest-grossing movie from April 19-21. It only suffered a 39.2% drop from its previous weekend, reaching $171.6 million domestically, and $485.2 million worldwide.

Besides North America, China contributed a huge $108 million to Godzilla x Kong’s box office total. The film also performed significantly well in Mexico, India, the UK, and Australia.

Produced on a $135 million budget, the film has already turned into a profitable venture. It took little time for it to beat Godzilla vs. Kong’s $470 million global total. It is also on track to beat 2014’s Godzilla, which ended its box office run with $524 million to take the second spot in the MonsterVerse’s highest-grossing movies list.

However, overpowering Kong: Skull Island’s $568 million total to be on top could be tough, with Challengers and The Fall Guy headed to the theaters in the upcoming weeks. But the movie still holds a chance to do that with its upcoming Japanese release on April 26, 2024.
