Early Life
Superstar Amitabh Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad. He is the son of renowned Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and social activist Teji Bachchan. Reportedly named Inquilab Shrivastava, his name was later changed to Amitabh and he adopted his father’s pen name Bachchan as his surname.
He completed his education at Sherwood College, Nainital, and later a bachelor of arts degree from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. Bachchan married his co-star Jaya Bhaduri shortly after the release of the mega-hit film Zanjeer in 1973. The couple was blessed with two children—Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan-Nanda.
Movie Career
The renowned actor debuted in the industry in 1969 with the film Saat Hindustani, directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. Later, he won his first Filmfare Award for Anand (1971) for his supporting role. In 1975, his portrayal in the film Sholay broke records at the box office and became an icon of the film industry.
Since then, Big B appeared in around 200 films in his career. Amitabh is known for his films such as Amar Akbar Anthony, Shahenshah, Coolie, Hum, Agneepath, Mohabbatein, and Kalki, among others.

According to a Lifestyle Asia report, Amitabh Bachchan boasts a staggering net worth of Rs 3,190 crore, with an estimated annual income of around Rs 60 crore. His source of income includes film projects and brand endorsements.
