Heartstopper star Sebastian Croft‘s new movie Get Away has confirmed its UK release date.

Directed by Steffen Haars, the film centres around a family as they navigate a remote Swedish island after a serial killer goes on the loose.

Get Away has been written and produced by Shaun of the Dead actor Nick Frost, who also stars alongside Aisling Bea and Maisie Ayres.

The horror-comedy will premiere on Sky Cinema on January 10, 2025 – the perfect way to begin the new year.

“Looking forward to spending a vacation on the small Swedish island of Svälta, the Smith family is unsettled by the unfriendly mainlanders who advise them to avoid the island at all costs, especially during the Karantan festival,” reads the official synopsis for the film.

“But the four-member family is in deep need of some time away and stubbornly decides to take the ferry anyway.”

On the island, the locals seem unbothered in helping the Smiths, leaving the group to fend for themselves. As time goes on, the residents’ strange behaviour begins to suggest that a big event is about to happen.

“Is is a cult? Is there a sacrifice in the works?” the logline continues.

“Seemingly unbothered by so much discourtesy and drama, the family enjoys a swim in the sea, treks in the woods, and, oh, the silent isolation… which turns out to be a pretty perfect situation for the Smiths, who have special plans of their own.”

Get Away had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest last month (September 20), with several fans taking to social media to share their thoughts.

Many viewers praised Frost’s “silly” and “mesmerising” performance, as well as an “unexpected” twist that occurs towards the end of the film.

Get Away is the first film that Nick has both written and starred in, and his passion for the project has infused every element – making it something really special,” said Julia Stuart, director of original film at Sky.

“The film has all the hallmarks fans enjoy about Nick’s dark comedy horrors – laugh out loud fun, twisted surprises and outrageous gore – along with a stellar, best-of-British ensemble cast. We know our audiences are going to love taking a trip on this killer family holiday together.”

Frost added: “The chance to bring the film to Sky and to be part of their Originals team feels a little too good to be true. It feels like the perfect place to snuggle up and watch a huge ball of comedy horror. Dig in!”

Get Away will premiere on Sky Cinema on January 10, 2025.
