Jackie Chan is one of the most renowned actors around in Hollywood at present. The Rush Hour star has been in the industry for nearly six decades, and he is a veteran when it comes to action films, even if he just turned 70 years old.
Chan is a venerated artist, who carved a niche for himself with his unique acrobatic fighting style. Moreover, he is a comedic genius to boot, and it speaks of the wealth of talent he was endowed with. His recent pictures, however, caused a bit of an alarm, but the actor was able to put a lot of anxious minds at rest with his post.
Jackie Chan’s look for his new film rang alarm bells
Jackie Chan is a Hollywood legend, having starred in over a hundred films in his career. More surprisingly, though, he has no intention of stopping any time soon.
Chan kicked off his career as a stuntman in several Hong Kong films. His first brush with fame came in 1978, when he got a chance to act in the action comedy film Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow. His career really took off after that, and he even donned the director’s hat for The Fearless Hyena, which was a hit. Several decades and a few hundred films later, Chan is still going as strong as ever.
Recently, though, the actor caused his fans to panic a little, when a few photos of him trickled down to social media. He sported messy, silvery hair, a stark departure from his usual jet-black hair.
With the pictures kicking up a storm online, Chan finally addressed the concerns of many. On the occasion of his 70th birthday, he took to Instagram to share a carousel of photos from his illustrious career. The actor also managed to put any concerns to rest, stating that the pictures that had gone viral were for his latest film.
“Not so long ago, a lot of friends saw some recent photos of me on the internet, and they were all concerned about my health. I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know, don’t worry! It’s just a character appearance for my latest movie. The character requires me to have white hair, white beard and look old,” he wrote in the caption.
The actor did not reveal much about the film or his role. Regardless, many believe that he might be shooting for the new Karate Kid film.
What do we know about the Karate Kid reboot, starring Jackie Chan?
Chan starred in the Karate Kid as Mr. Han, with Jaden Smith playing the titular character. A decade later, Chan is set to team up with Ralph Macchio once again in the reboot.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Sony Studio found their protagonist in Ben Wang, a 24-year-old actor, who swept the audition with his talents. His fluency in Mandarin and knowledge of several martial arts forms also acted in his favor.
Sony was on the lookout for their lead, and the casting call saw thousands of entries. With Wang playing the lead, Chan will possibly reprise his role as Mr. Han in the reboot as well.
So far, plot details have been kept under wraps, although Deadline reported that Jonathan Entwistle will direct the film. The film is aiming for a December release this year.
