Jessica Alba in “Trigger Warning.”
Trigger Warning—Jessica Alba’s first new movie in five years—is among the films coming to Netflix this week.
Alba—whose film credits include Valentine’s Day, Machete and Fantastic Four—last appeared in the 2019 crime mystery Killers Anonymous opposite Gary Oldman.
Directed by Mouly Surya, Trigger Warning premieres on Netflix on Friday. The official logline for the film reads, “Special Forces commando Parker (Jessica Alba) is on active duty overseas when she gets called back to her hometown with the tragic news that her father has suddenly died.”
The logline continues, “Now the owner of the family bar, Parker reconnects with her former boyfriend-turned-sheriff Jesse (Mark Webber), his hot-tempered brother Elvis (Jake Weary) and their powerful father Senator Swann (Anthony Michael Hall), as she looks to understand what actually happened to her dad.”
In addition,the official description for Trigger Warning notes that Parker finds herself at odds with a violent gang that is wreaking havoc in her hometown.
As such, Parker employs her commando skills while investigating the murder of her father and recruits her covert ops partner/hacker Spider (Tone Bell) and a connected local dealer, Mike (Gabriel Basso), to help out.

Also debuting on Netflix this week is the 2018 Steve Carell fantasy drama Welcome to Marwen, which begins streaming on Sunday.
Monday sees the debut of the 2015 Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara drama Carol, which earned the performers Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominations, respectively. Carol is among the 10 best-reviewed films new on Netflix in June.
Meanwhile, the critically lambasted yet financially successful 2015 erotic thriller Fifty Shades of Grey—starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan—premieres on the streamer Tuesday.
The Juneteenth federal holiday on Wednesday marks the premiere of Black Barbie, a Netflix original documentary that chronicles the impact three Black women at Mattel had on the evolution of the Barbie doll brand.
Also debuting on the streamer Wednesday is the 2017 animated hit The LEGO Batman Movie and the 2023 fantasy Kleks Academy.
Thursday marks the premiere of the Netflix original documentary The Accidental Twins, along with the Netflix original crime thriller Gangs of Galicia. The 2022 indie drama Aftersun—which earned Paul Mescal a Best Actor Oscar nomination—also debuts on the streaming service on Thursday.
