With Love will be Ke Huy Quan’s first starring role in an action movie. The actor, who won an Academy Award for his supporting performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once, recently shared that he could not wait for fans to see the upcoming action flick.
In an interview with Collider, Quan confirmed that filming had “just finished” on With Love. While he couldn’t share too many details about the movie, he revealed that production took place “in Canada for three months,” noting, “It’s a big action movie, so physically it’s very demanding. It’s also my very first time being the number one on the call sheet, so that was really exciting.” He also shared that he “had a wonderful time” making the movie. “It’s something that I’m very proud of, as well, too, and I can’t wait to show the world,” he added.

Announced in January 2024, With Love is produced by 87North, the production company founded by filmmaker David Leitch and his wife/producer Kelly McCormick. The duo previously produced the action hits Atomic Blonde (2017), Nobody (2021), Violent Night (2022), and The Fall Guy (2024), as well as the John Wick franchise. Universal will release With Love, having previously distributed Nobody, Violent Night, and The Fall Guy.
Joining Leitch and McCormick as producers on With Love are 87North’s Guy Danella, Universal’s Executive Vice President of Production Development, Jay Polidoro, and Director of Production Development, Tony Ducret. With Love marks the directorial debut of Jonathan Eusebio, who previously served as 2nd unit director on Leitch’s Deadpool 2 and the Disney+ limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi. The screenplay was written by Luke Passmore, Josh Stoddard, and Matthew Murray.

Where Have You Seen Ke Huy Quan Before?
Quan is currently enjoying a career resurgence thanks to his supporting role in A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once. Prior to the release of the 2022 movie, the actor was largely remembered for his fan-favorite performances as Short Round and Data in the iconic ’80s movies Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies, respectively. He also appeared in the cult classic film, Encino Man, opposite Brendan Fraser, in 1992.
Following Everything Everywhere, Quan appeared in the second season of Marvel Studios’ Loki as Ouroboros “OB” and in American Born Chinese, which reunited him with his Everything Everywhere co-star Michelle Yeoh. Both series were released on Disney+. He also voiced Han, a Sunda pangolin who is the leader of a den of thieves, in DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda 4. Quan will next be seen in The Electric State, an upcoming sci-fi adventure film directed by the Russo Brothers that is scheduled to be released on Netflix later this year.
With Love is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 7, 2025.
