Summary
- 12 years after her breakout role as Bella in The Twilight Saga came to an end, Kristen Stewart is returning to the vampire subgenre in her upcoming movie Flesh of the Gods.
- In Flesh of the Gods, Kristen Stewart will star alongside Oscar Isaac as a married vampire couple in L.A. in the ’80s.
- Unlike The Twilight Saga, in which Bella only became a vampire at the very end of Breaking Dawn – Part 1, Flesh of the Gods will showcase Kristen Stewart as a powerful vampire from the beginning.
Kristen Stewart’s upcoming movie Flesh of the Gods will be a callback of sorts to the actress’ mega-franchise that came to an end more than a decade ago. With two of her films premiering back-to-back at the Sundance Film Festival in January, 2024 has already been a busy year for Kristen Stewart. She starred opposite Steven Yeun in Love Me before making waves as Lou in the romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding, which released in theaters in March. Stewart is also part of the cast of Michael Angarano’s Sacramento, premiering in June 2024.
Now, Stewart is gearing up for her next movie, Flesh of the Gods, which begins filming later this year. Stewart will star opposite Oscar Isaac in Flesh of the Gods, directed by Panos Cosmatos and penned by Se7en screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker. Few details have been shared at the moment, but there is one notable detail that Flesh of the Gods has in common with the billion-dollar franchise that launched Stewart into stardom.

Flesh Of The Gods Brings Kristen Stewart Back To Vampires After Twilight
Kristen Stewart & Oscar Isaac Will Play A Married Vampire Couple In ’80s L.A.
More than a decade after TheTwilightSaga ended, Stewart will be returning to the vampire subgenre in Flesh of the Gods. After getting her start as a child actor, Stewart’s big break was playing mortal teenager Bella Swan in Twilight (2008), the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s 2005 fantasy romance novel about a human and a vampire who fall in love. The film was a colossal success and became a cultural phenomenon responsible for a rise in vampire-centered media. Stewart reprised her role as Bella in all TheTwilight Saga movies as her star continued to soar.
The final Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn – Part 2, was released in 2012, and now, Stewart is strapping her fangs back on 12 years later in Flesh of the Gods. Stewart and Isaac will play Alex and Raoul, two married vampires living in Los Angeles in the 1980s who frequent the L.A. nightlife scene. One night, the bloodthirsty couple encounters “the mysterious and enigmatic Nameless” and get sucked into a world of hedonism. The vampire thriller promises to take viewers “on a hot rod joyride deep into the glittering heart of hell.”

Kristen Stewart’s New Vampire Movie Sounds Like The Anti-Twilight We Need In 2024
Kristen Stewart has been cast as the lead character in a new vampire movie, which already sounds like the perfect and needed anti-Twilight.
Flesh Of The Gods Can Give Kristen Stewart The Vampire Role Twilight Couldn’t
Bella Doesn’t Become A Vampire Until The Very End Of Breaking Dawn Part 1
While they share the vampire subgenre in common, one major difference between the Twilight movies and Flesh of the Gods is that Stewart’s character in the latter will presumably be a vampire from the beginning. Bella spends the majority of The Twilight Saga as a human amongst vampires (and werewolves). It’s not until the very end of Breaking Dawn – Part 1 that Bella finally turns into a vampire in The Twilight Saga.
Because of Bella’s arc
in The Twilight Saga, Stewart only got to play a vampire for one movie, and a brand-new vampire at that.
When Bella appears to be dead after giving birth to her and Edward’s human-vampire hybrid baby, Renesmee, Edward injects venom into her heart in an attempt to restart it, which transforms Bella into a vampire. The very last shot of Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is of Bella opening her eyes to show her newly red irises. Breaking Dawn – Part 2 follows Bella as she completes her transformation and adjusts to life as a newborn vampire.
