A LIMERICK-based organisation for young filmmakers has announced that it has teamed up with industry partners to support Ireland’s young filmmakers.
Fresh Film has announced that it has joined forces with Screen Producers Ireland, Animation Ireland, and Bow Street Academy, as well as Omniplex Cinema Group, to support Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards.
The 28th annual Fresh International Film Festival is approaching and will run from April 15 to 21 at Omniplex Limerick, where the Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards will take place.
Artistic Director of Fresh Film, Jayne Foley, said that the industry partnerships are an important part of providing opportunities for budding young filmmakers.
“Our industry partnerships are vital. Not only are we showcasing films, we’re nurturing talent and shaping the future of Irish film,” she said.
Three new categories will also be up for grabs at the Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards, made possible by Screen Producers Ireland, Animation Ireland, and Bow Street Academy.
The Screen Producers Ireland Sustainability Award, Animation Ireland Award, Bow Street Performance Award are the three new categories and will be awarded alongside the usual categories such as Best School, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, and Best Screenplay, among others.
Fresh Film and Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards are made possible by support from The Arts Council of Ireland, Screen Ireland, Limerick City and County Council, Coimisiún na Meán, Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, as well as Omniplex Cinema Group, Troy Studios and others.
