Marvel Release Schedule For Upcoming Projects: Live-Action & Animation

The Marvel Cinematic Universe recently met its newest addition Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke) in Agatha All Along as the show nears its finale ahead of Halloween. San Diego Comic Con 2024 also revealed a major addition and return of some sort to the world of Marvel Studios by none other than Robert Downey Jr., who has been cast as big bad villain Victor Von Doom.

Several films and TV series are on Marvel’s slate for release next year, some with trailers already released. Still more films have been planned for 2026 and 2027. Certain projects known to be in development still remain undated. Still others leave room for the expansion of the Young Avengers, a subset in the comics who have begun introductions in MCU movies and TV shows.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD – Feb. 14, 2025

Captain America: Brave New World will star Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America after Steve Rodgers (Chris Evans) who reluctantly teams up with U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford) to make Captain America a military position. Also appearing in the next big film are Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson. The first look at Red Hulk, an alter ego of Ford’s character — originally suppsed to be portrayed by William Hurt — in the comics, came in the trailer.
DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN – March 4, 2025

Daredevil: Born Again will see Charlie Cox once again take on the titular mantle alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as the villain Kingpin, who connects the series to Hawkeye and Echo in which D’Onofrio also appeared. Cox appeared as blind attorney Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, with Ayelet Zurer will also star. Jon Bernthal will reprise the role of The Punisher in the series.
THUNDERBOLTS* – May 2, 2025

Jake Schreier’s Thunderbolts* film will star Florence Pugh, Geraldine Viswanathan, Olga Kurylenko, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Kulia Louis-Drefus and Hannah John-Kamen. The movie will follow the anti-heroes from avengers plots as they band together to complete missions for the government, like an alternative version of the Avengers, but not. The trailer for the anti-hero-centering film, set to “Where Is My Mind?” by The Pixies, arrived in September 2024.
THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS – July 25, 2025

The Fantastic 4: First Steps will star Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch Johnny Storm and Ebon Moss Bachrach as Ben Grimm (aka the Thing). Paul Walter Hauser and Natasha Lyonne will also appear in undisclosed roles. Julia Garner will appear as Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson will play big bad villain Galactus.
IRONHEART – 2025

Dominique Thorne will reprise her role of Riri Williams, first introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), stepping into the shoes of Ironheart in the next Marvel live-action TV series, slated for release in 2025. Footage for the show arrived at D23 2024.
Avengers: Doomsday – May 2026

Avengers: Doomsday will see the return of Robert Downey Jr. to a new MCU role — that of Victor Von Doom. Joe and Anthony Russo will return to direct the next big installment that will arrive before Avengers: Secret Wars.
AVENGERS: SECRET WARS – May 2027

Avengers: Secret Wars, which will be teed up by Avengers: Doomsday, will also star Robert Downey Jr. in his new villain role of Victor Von Doom. The film will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, and it is currently slated to arrive in May 2027.
Untitled ‘Vision’ Series– Undated

Another spinoff of WandaVision in addition to Jac Schaeffer’s Agatha All Along will center Vision (Paul Bettany). The untitled series looks to go into production in 2025. James Spader will reprise his role of Ultron, the Artificial Intelligence created by Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).
WONDER MAN – Undated

Daniel Destin Cretton and Stella Meghie will direct multiple episodes of the upcoming Wonder Man series, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the titular character and Byron Bowers in an unknown role. Andrew Guest is head writer. Cretton also exec produces along with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
WHAT IF…?, Season 3 – Undated

What If…? has been renewed for a third season. Season 2 launched at the end of 2023.
EYES OF WAKANDA – Undated

Eyes of Wakanda will follow the Wakandan citizens in an animated format, featuring the Dora Milaje led by Danai Guriria’s Okoye and more.
BLADE – Undated/Delayed

Blade starring Mahershala Ali has hit a few bumps in the road on its way to production as a rotation of directors have come and gone from the project. Up until October 2024, the movie was dated for a 2025 release, but it has since been removed from the schedule.
YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN (Prev: SPIDER-MAN: FRESHMAN YEAR) – Undated

The animated series, originally titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year will arrive on Disney+ soon. The series will have a companion comic stretch of five installments arrive in December ahead of the show’s release.
X-MEN ’97 Season 2 – Undated, Season 3 in the Works

Season 1 of X-Men ’97 ended in May 2024. Season 1 writer Beau de Mayo, who wrote a lot of Season 2, exited ahead of the premiere of Season 1. The show has also already been renewed for a Season 3 with Matthew Chauncey, writer-producer on What If…? since Season 1, taking the helm of the third installment.
SPIDER-MAN 4, In the Works

Tom Holland has recently confirmed that he’s seen a script for his fourth Spider-Man film with Zendaya. The film also looks to start shooting next summer, according to Holland. Destin Daniel Cretton was reportedly in talks to direct.
