National Treasure 3 Gets Disappointing Update From Nicolas Cage
Actor Nicolas Cage gives a blunt response when asked for an update on Disney’s long-gestating National Treasure 3.
Arcadian was directed by director Ben Brewer from a screenplay written by Michael Nilon. In addition to Cage, the film also stars Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) as Thomas, Jaeden Martell (It movies, Knives Out) as Joseph, Sadie Soverall (Fate: The Winx Saga) as Charlotte, and Joe Dixon (The Mummy Returns) as Mr. Rose, with Samantha Coughlan, Daire McMahon, and Joel Gillmna. The film was produced by Cage and Nilon, who have been collaborating with each other since 2014. They also worked together on Lionsgate’s meta comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which featured Cage playing a version of himself.
The official synopsis for Arcadian reads, “In the near future, life on Earth has been decimated. Paul and his twin teenage sons, Thomas and Joseph, have been living a half-life – tranquility by day and torment by night. When the sun sets, ferocious creatures of the night awaken and consume all living souls in their path. One day, when Thomas doesn’t return home before sundown, Paul chooses to leave the safety of their fortified farm to find him before the creatures arrive. Just as he finds his boy, a nightmarish battle ensues and Paul is gravely wounded. Now the twins must devise a desperate plan for surviving the coming night and use everything their father has taught them to keep him alive.”

Nicolas Cage’s Next Buzzy Horror Movie
After starring in Arcadian, Cage has another major horror project lined up this year in the form of NEON’s serial killer movie Longlegs, which currently has a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 11 reviews. Ahead of its July 12 release, the film is also receiving positive reviews from critics, who are calling it one of the best horror movies of the year. In a previous interview, Cage teased his mysterious character, who he believes will definitely have an impact on the audiences once they’ve seen him.
“Forget about the movie theater blowing up; the whole city could blow up, nay the country, maybe even the world,” Cage said. “He is going to change your reality. Your doors of perception are going to open, and your life is not going to be the same.”
Arcadian debuts on Shudder on July 12.
