Sydney Sweeney In Talks to Lead the Remake of An Edgar Allan Poe Classic
After playing a nun that goes off the rails in Immaculate, Sydney Sweeney is already eyeing another horror title to sink her teeth in. The actress is in talks to star in the adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe‘s short story, The Masque of the Red Death. Described as “wildly revisionist and darkly comedic”, the film will be helmed by Charlie Polinger and executive produced by Lucy McKendrick. The classic tale follows Prince Prospero, as he hides in an abbey with other nobles in the hopes of protecting themselves from a plague called the Red Death. Believing that hosting a masquerade ball won’t threaten their safety, Prospero is proved wrong when a victim of the Red Death joins his celebration. Details as to who might join Sweeney as part of the main cast, as well as the film’s release date have yet to be revealed.

Although the project is a long ways away from getting filmed, Collider has heard that it will likely come out before the Daisy Ridley-led Rey movie. The next Star Wars installment is The Mandalorian and Grogu, which has already wrapped production and is currently scheduled for a May 2026 release.

So much so that The Odyssey‘s set location was uncovered online. According to social media chatter, ancient Greek structures are being built in Aït-Ben-Haddou, Morocco for Nolan’s latest project. On top of this major update, another cast member has been revealed to join the film’s already-packed ensemble. Jon Bernthal will plunge into the wine-dark sea alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya, in a role that remains under wraps.

Martin Scorsese To Direct ‘The Devil in the White City’ Adaptation, With Leonardo DiCaprio Starring In It
Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are eyeing their eighth collaboration, as the renowned director seeks to give The Devil in the White City another go. 20th Century Studios is now backing up the project, which has been on the creatives’ radar for over 15 years. Erik Larson’s 2003 true-crime novel is set in Chicago at the end of the 19th century and follows one of the United States’ first serial killers. Although it finally seems like the duo’s dream project will finally come to fruition, it is currently in the early stages of production, with a lot that still has to be determined before filming kicks-off.

Brad Pitt to Reteam With ‘Bullet Train’ Director for ‘Oceans 14’
After Steven Soderbergh directed the first few installments of the Oceans franchise, the filmmaker passed the baton to David Leitch for the making of Oceans 14. The Bullet Train director is in talks to helm the sequel to the heist film series, which already has George Clooney and Brad Pitt attached to reprise their roles. Last year, Clooney revealed that the film’s script was already in good standing, meaning that it might not take long for it to get made with Leitch now onboard. Soderbergh’s decision to step away from the franchise isn’t recent news. The filmmaker had already spoken with Variety back in 2023 about the matter, saying the following:
“After we made the third movie, I felt like the series was very much concluded for me. When the studio approached me to see if I’d be involved in continuing the franchise, I told them no, because it just doesn’t feel like a move forward for me. I’m chasing something else.”

Brad Pitt Books Role in David Ayer’s Survival Film ‘Heart of the Beast’
David Ayer might’ve just worked on The Beekeeper and put the final touches on the forthcoming action flick A Working Man, but he isn’t ready for a break just yet. The director is reportedly helming a film entitled Heart of the Beast, alongside none other than Brad Pitt. The project will tell the story of an Army Special Forces Soldier and his dog as they survive a plane crash that leaves them stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Per Deadline, Paramount was responsible for closing the deal with Pitt, who is also producing the film under the banner of Plan B, his award-winning production company.
