Prominent Malayalam film editor Nishad Yusuf was found dead in his Kochi apartment at around 2 AM on Wednesday, reported Mathrubhumi. He was the editor of the big-budget upcoming Tamil fantasy action-drama Kanguva, headlined by Suriya. The 42 year-old editor was found dead just two weeks before the film’s scheduled release on November 14.

Nishad had earned acclaim for his work on several popular Malayalam films, including Tovino Thomas-starrer Thallumaala; Unda featuring Mammootty; and Saudi Vellakka.

Just recently, the editor had shared pictures on his Instagram with the cast of Kanguva, including Suriya and Bobby Deol from a grand promotional event few days ago. He had also shared a work-in-progress picture from the edit room, captioned, “Exciting 3D Work Happening For #Kanguva happy and thrilled for THE EXPERIENCE🔥 KANGUVA in 3D from NOV 14.”

For Thallumaala, he had received the Kerala State Film Awards for best editing. Apart from Kanguva, Nishad Yusuf was also attached as an editor to the upcoming Malayalam action thriller Bazooka, starring Mammootty. The actioner is set to release in cinemas in December.

Kanguva will be his first posthumous release. The film stars Suriya in dual roles, alongside Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Natarajan Subramaniam and Yogi Babu. It is gearing up for a grand release on November 14. Further details about his death are awaited.
