‘Magical’ Netflix film hailed new ‘Christmas classic’ scores 96% on Rotten Tomatoes
The Netflix Original film has been branded an ‘absolute masterpiece’ by critics and movie fans alike
A ‘magical’ Netflix original Christmas film has been hailed the ‘best film ever’ by fans who say it should be ‘considered a Christmas classic’. Released in 2019, Klaus is one of the newer Christmas films out there but has won the hearts of many movie fans, who claim it is now their favourite festive watch.
The title boasts a star studded cast including Jason Schwartzman, Rashida Jones and J.K Simmons and is directed by Despicable Me director Sergio Pablos. The hit Christmas movie was Netflix’s first original animated feature film and has been a huge success on the platform, going on to earn an Academy Award nomination and a BAFTA win for Best Animated Film.
Klaus tells the heart warming tale of a spoiled postman who accidentally brings about the genesis of Santa Claus. The official Netflix synopsis reads: “A selfish postman and a reclusive toymaker form an unlikely friendship, delivering joy to a cold, dark town that desperately needs it.”
Despite maybe seeming more centred towards children at first glance, fans have insisted that Klaus is a magical watch for all ages and will ‘touch even the coldest of hearts’. The Netflix Original film has been a hit with movie fans and critics alike, scoring an impressive 95 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes on the Tomatometer from professional reviewers and 96 per cent on the Popcornmeter from general audiences.
One review reads: “Phenomenal movie – This should be considered one of the true Christmas classics. I am extremely appreciative that Netflix granted the theatres permission to play it.
“I also pray that this movie is made available on disc someday – it truly deserves to be seen everywhere Christmas is celebrated.” Another echoed: “Never-seen-before original idea and beautiful animation in a fun, exaggerated style incredible execution. Heart warming story, it should be a Christmas classic.”
Someone else gushed: “Klaus is an absolute masterpiece. I kept thinking I had an idea of where the film was going, as it seemed to follow the same exact formula we see from every Christmas movie.
“However, it goes in such interesting directions and gets surprisingly emotional at times.
“It is not only my new favourite Christmas movie, it may be one of the best animated movies I have ever seen.
“I recommend this movie to everyone, and it is guaranteed to touch even the coldest of hearts.”
A fourth remarked: “Better than anything Disney has come up with in 10 years. A fresh, creative Christmas story with memorable characters and strong, non-cliche themes.”
A fifth wrote: “I’m not sure where to start about this film. Just know if you’ve never seen it that watching it for the first time is magical… and that never really fades with each year.
“The animation is top tier, but what really shapes the film is the story. Full of love and warmth.”
Yet another praised: “This film is genuinely beautiful. This will forever be a Christmas classic, and probably the most unexpected one at that.”
Somebody else exclaimed: “Klaus is the best Christmas movie ever!”
