Jab We Met (2007)

The film starring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor follows the story of a heartbroken tycoon and a high-spirited girl Geet who falls in love. The film has been shot mainly in Chandigarh and Patiala. The beautiful Punjabi culture and colourful green and yellow fields of Patiala have been captured in many iconic scenes. Mauja Hi Mauja and Nagada Nagada, songs consisting of catchy Punjabi lyrics are still popular to date and Kapoor Khan’s famous dialogue, “Sikhni Hoon Main Bhatinda Ki” captures the very spirit of Punjab in the movie. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008)

Set in the city of Amritsar, this Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer movie captures the essence of Punjabi culture. During the second part of the film, the soulful song, Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai is shot at the iconic Golden Temple. It is here that Taani (Anushka Sharma) realises that God resides in one and all, including her husband Surinder (Shah Rukh Khan), beautifully portraying the divine aura of this location. This breathtaking temple is the holiest shrine in the Sikh faith, and it is part of the larger gurdwara complex known as Harmandir Sahib. You can watch this movie on Amazon Prime Video.

Dil Bole Hadippa (2009)

The title is enough to the essence of Punjab. Directed by Yash Raj Films, this Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukherji starrer tale of romance, comedy and music is shot in the town of Ropar, a marketplace for agricultural products, which makes it a great choice for showing the authenticity, style and dialect of Punjab. This is one film that showcases the famous culture of Punjab as we all know it to be with lassi, ghee, dal makhani, chewing sugarcane and those beautiful golden mustard fields. This movie is available on Amazon Prime Video.
