This weekend, relax and take in a good, show, movie, or stand-up special – there are tons of new releases to choose from. Want to bask in the comforts (and gorgeous European scenery) of a familiar favorite? There’s a new season of Emily in Paris out on Netflix now. Wanna relive your Gen X youth (or, I dunno, your parents’ youth? How old are you, anyway?) There’s a great new Counting Crows documentary on HBO Max. And if you just need some laughs, Kumail Nanjiani’s newest comedy special hits Hulu this week, too.

Also arriving to streaming this week is Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. Lauded as one of the best films of the year, the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a former political activist whose past has come back to haunt him and his daughter (Chase Infiniti). The film dropped on HBO Max this Friday.

New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Emily in Paris, Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately?, Kumail Nanjiani: Night Thoughts + more

Emily Cooper has relocated once again, this time to Italy, in the newest season of Emily In Paris. Season 5 of the Darren Star-created show features 10 new episodes that all dropped on Thursday so you can binge your weekend away. HBO Max’s great Music Box series has given us great titles like the 2024 Yacht Rock documentary I haven’t stopped thinking about for a year (Michael McDonald is a treasure). The newest film in the series is a deep dive into one of the most quintessential bands of the 1990s, Counting Crows. Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately? is available to stream now. Also available to stream this weekend is Kumail Nanjiani: Night Thoughts, the new stand-up comedy special from the actor/director, who returned to his comedy roots for this one.

New on Netflix December 18: Emily In Paris (Season 5)

Season 5 of Emily in Paris sees Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) venturing away from France and into Italy, where she’ll travel through Rome and Venice for the next chapter of her life. While Emily ventured to Italy during season 4, now she’s officially stationed there, setting up the Italian office of Agence Grateau while working on her relationship with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini).

Between It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley, Pavements, and now Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately?, it’s a banner year for documentaries about influential musicians of the 1990s. Have You Seen Me Lately?, part of the platform’s Music Box series, is the newest to arrive, it’ll premiere on HBO Max this Sunday, offering a profile of the band’s frontman, Adam Duritz, who had to navigate his creative process under the microscope of fame.

Kumail Nanjiani’s latest standup comedy special, Night Thoughts, arrives on Hulu this Friday. Filmed in Chicago, Night Thoughts is Nanjiani’s second comedy special, and included among the many heavy-hitting subjects it tackles are his thoughts on “anxiety, the perils of buying drugs pre-legalization, and most importantly, cat medication.”
