‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,’ ‘Anniversary’ + More
This week, there are some great films arriving to digital platforms, including If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, which offers an impressive, dark performance from Rose Byrne, plus the political thriller Anniversary. You can also catch the new movie Pools, which just dropped, too.
Odessa A’zion, who’s also currently starring in I Love L.A. on HBO Max, leads the cast of Pools, a coming of age drama about a young woman dealing with the grief of losing her father. She and her friends spend the summer sneaking into the yards of wealthy neighbors to swim in their pools, pushing boundaries and trying to escape her troubles. The cast also includes Mason Gooding, Ariel Winter, Suzanne Cryer and Tyler Alvarez.

Rose Byrne stars in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You as a mother who’s about to lose it. Byrne plays Linda, a stressed out mother whose husband is on a work trip and whose daughter is ill and hooked up to a feeding tube. Worse still, her house is literally crumbling and her therapist (played by Conan O’Brien) has had it with her. The film, which also co-stars ASAP Rocky, arrived to VOD earlier this week.
Phoebe Dynevor plays a young woman who is every liberal mother-in-law’s nightmare in Anniversary. Dynevor plays Liz, who has just started dating Josh (Dylan O’Brien), the son of a prominent Washington D.C. couple, Ellen and Paul Taylor (Diane Lane and Kyle Chandler). After meeting Liz, Ellen, a Georgetown professor, realizes that she was a former student of hers, one that she had a contentious relationship with after Liz expressed support for a totalitarian form of government. Soon, Liz becomes the charismatic leader of a movement known as The Change and her incendiary political ideas start to be widely embraced, wreaking havoc on the family and beyond.
