Playlist: Songs Heard in Cannes 2024 Movies

A list of titles of 116 songs we heard in movies screened at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, suggested by the film community, and a Spotify playlist to listen to them!

Film festivals are wonderful, but they’re also incredibly stressful. You get to watch all these incredible movies, but you also have to find time to review them in between screenings. And with all the queuing, running around, and rushing to meet deadlines, it’s easy to forget to do the most basic of things, like sleeping, eating, and looking after yourself. But if there’s one thing that makes film festivals the amazing experiences that they are, it’s that you get to interact with so many film lovers. Some are fellow critics, or people you follow on Twitter; others are people who simply love movies, with whom you end up having fantastic conversations. To me, this is what makes it all worth it, and what makes me come back to these festivals every year.

This was my second year attending the Cannes Film Festival, and though it was just as hectic as I remembered it, it was also fantastic to see everyone again and be immersed in that atmosphere. It also ended way too quickly, and when I got back home, the film festival blues hit. Since I usually turn to music when I feel nostalgic, I decided to make a Cannes 2024 Playlist, and tweeted to ask if anyone remembered more songs from this year’s Cannes movies. The film community didn’t disappoint, and so many people replied to me that, together, we had over 100 titles within a couple of days!

Many people have been asking for a Spotify playlist, so I thought I’d make one and also share the song list below, as it’ll be easier to update it when we find out about more titles. Here are the 116 songs we remembered, which might not be 100% accurate but they were all suggested by the Film Twitter community (scroll till the end for the list of names of all the people who helped). The Spotify playlist only has 87 titles as I wasn’t able to find the others (which are marked as [MISSING], but I’ll keep updating it if anything changes! The order is mostly alphabetical but it felt appropriate to start with Kinds of Kindness! Thanks to everyone who helped with the list, and happy reminiscing!
