Kate Winslet and Josh O’Connor’s new movie Lee has released a first trailer.

The Sky Original film tells the story of legendary photographer Lee Miller, played by Winslet, who was one of the only female combat photographers to follow the Allied troops during World War II.

Lee’s synopsis reads: “Determined to document the truth of the Nazi regime, and in spite of the odds stacked against female correspondents, Lee captured some of the most important images of World War II, for which she paid an enormous price.”

The new trailer for the movie, releasing on September 13, shows Miller’s unique journey from fashion model to war correspondent for British Vogue — despite the pushback from those around her.

In the video, which you can watch above, she’s told: “We don’t send women to combat.”

She replies: “Well, that’s a problem, because I’m here.”

Challengers actor O’Connor plays young journalist Tony, who appears to be interviewing Miller decades after the war.

When Tony asks, “Do you want the world to know about you?”, she replies, “You think I went to war so people would know my name?”

Alongside Winslet and O’Connor, Lee has an all-star cast that includes Andrea Riseborough as British Vogue editor Audrey Withers and Andy Samberg as Life Magazine photographer David E Scherman.

Meanwhile, Succession’s Alexander Skarsgård plays painter and photographer Roland Penrose, and Marion Cotillard plays fashion director of French Vogue Solange D’Ayen.

In February, Winslet told Sky about playing Miller: “To me, she was a life-force to be reckoned with, so much more than an object of attention from famous men with whom she is associated.”

She continued: “This photographer, writer, reporter did everything she did with love, lust, and courage, and is an inspiration of what you can achieve, and what you can bear, if you dare to take life firmly by the hands and live it at full throttle.”

Lee premieres on September 13 in the UK and Ireland.
