What is Unforsted about?
“Battle Creek, Michigan, 1963. Kellogg’s and Post, sworn cereal rivals, race to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast forever. A wildly imaginative tale of ambition, betrayal, and menacing milkmen – sweetened with artificial ingredients – Unfrosted stars Jerry Seinfeld in his directorial film debut. It features a supporting cast of comedy greats including Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Hugh Grant, Amy Schumer, Max Greenfield, Christian Slater, Sarah Cooper, Bill Burr, and many more,” the official synopsis reads.
Seinfeld co-wrote the script for Unfrosted with Spike Feresten, Andy Robin, and Barry Marder. Seinfeld and Feresten also produce the movie alongside Beau Bauman.
“They’re all so talented and funny but honestly, the biggest thrill of the whole thing was Hugh Grant. He’s so damn funny,” Seinfeld said of the cast, via GamesRadar. “You should’ve heard us screaming at each other on set. I was saying to him: ‘You don’t know anything about comedy. You just know how to be witty in a pub. Here in America, we’ve got to get real laughs,’” he recalls, half-joking. He’d scream back: ‘I know a lot about comedy!’ It was one of the great gifts of making this.”
Along with the aforementioned cast, Unfrosted also stars Daniel Levy, James Marsden, Jack McBrayer, Thomas Lennon, Bobby Moynihan, Adrian Martinez, and Fred Armisen.
Unfrosted releases on Netflix on May 3, 2024.
