Sundown (2021) is now on Netflix – Supplied by LMKMEDIA
Welcome to your weekly rundown of everything new on Netflix for the week ending October 24th, 2025. It’s been a quieter week, although there’s been some major new releases on the movie and TV side of things. Below, we’ll take a look at all 27 new releases, pick out some highlights, and cover what’s been trending in the US top 10s.
In case you missed it, Netflix released its November 2025 schedule on Wednesday, and there’s plenty to look forward to throughout next month. We’ve also got some more titles on our radar for the remainder of October, so keep it locked on What’s on Netflix for the latest.
Now, let’s get into the highlights for this week:
What to Watch on Netflix This Weekend
Sundown (2021)
Rating: R
Language: English
Genre: Drama, Mystery
Director: Michel Franco
Cast: Tim Roth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Samuel Bottomley
Writer: Michel Franco
Runtime: 82 min / 1h 22m
One of the unexpected new releases for the week is Sundown, the Bleecker Street/Sky Original that scored rave reviews, with Tim Roth in particular once again putting in a career-defining performance.
The synopsis reads, “Neil and Alice Bennett are the core of a wealthy family on vacation in Mexico with younger members Colin and Alexa (Samuel Bottomley, Albertine Kotting McMillan) until a distant emergency cuts their trip short. When one relative disrupts the family’s tight-knit order, simmering tensions rise to the fore in this suspenseful jolt from writer/director Michel Franco.”
Parish (Season 1)
Number of episodes: 6
Rating: TV-14
Language: English
Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller
Cast: Giancarlo Esposito, Zackary Momoh, Paula Malcomson
Writer: Sunu Gonera
Over the past month or so, Netflix has been updating a number of its major AMC shows, but today, we got one of the brand new ones that makes its Netflix debut and it stars Giancarlo Esposito who has been playing some iconic roles as of late, including in Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul and The Boys.
The series follows the story of Gracian “Gray” Parish, a family man and luxury car service owner in New Orleans who has long tried to leave behind a dark past as a skilled driver for criminals. However, after his son is violently murdered and his business faces financial ruin, Gray is forced to return to his old life of crime. Desperate and driven by grief and a need for justice, he gets entangled with a ruthless Zimbabwean gangster known as “The Horse” and his crime family, risking his family’s safety and plunging into a relentless and dangerous criminal underworld.
A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE (2025)
Rating: R
Language: English
Genre: Drama, Thriller
Director: Kathryn Bigelow
Cast: Rebecca Ferguson, Anthony Ramos, Idris Elba
Writer: Noah Oppenheim
Runtime: 112 min / 1h 52m
It’s been a long time coming, but Kathryn Bigelow is back with a brand new movie after a very long hiatus. It’s been shrouded in secrecy for much of its development and even during filming, but we finally got the goods today. Definitely cut from the same cloth as her other critically acclaimed movies, like The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, A House of Dynamite puts you in the heart of an emergency situation in the US government as a missile is shot, which causes nationwide panic.
Although reviews since its initial debut have been a bit all over the place, that’s not the case with us. We gave it a four-star rating and praised it as one of the best movies of the year. We wrote, “Director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Noah Oppenheim give you front row seats to your worst fears. An anxious & exhaustive thriller that will obliterate your sense of safety in the modern nuclear world. You’ll be calling your loved ones by Act II.”
