Nintendo announces a Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct with a boatload of Toads
Nintendo has announced a Direct focused exclusively on its upcoming The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
The Direct itself will feature the world premiere of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer and take place tomorrow, 12th November, at 2pm UK time. For our friends across the pond, that’s 6am PT / 9am ET.
In addition to the date and time, Nintendo also shared an image alongside its Direct announcement, showing a group of Toads on boats looking towards the evening sky as stars fly overhead towards Peach’s castle. It appears to be during some kind of celebration or special occasion. I am rather taken by the star shaped sails each boat has, though I am sure they would be far from practical in the real world.
One of the younger looking Toads, meanwhile, has on what appear to be Mario-adorned pyjamas. This fellow is also holding onto a Mario plush, so clearly Brooklyn’s moustachioed plumber is considered a bit of a hero in the Mushroom Kingdom following the events of the first film. Another Toad is a chef, likely the chap from the Universal theme park restaurant, though I am pleased to say they are refraining from cooking while onboard their small wooden vessel. You can see the full image further below.
Just as a quick heads up, Nintendo has stated there will be no game information shared during its Super Mario Galaxy Movie presentation tomorrow, so don’t go hoping for news on an Odyssey sequel or something along those lines (though I do still live in hope).
Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct will be available to watch on YouTube or via the Nintendo Today app.
Earlier this week, we got a good look at Yoshi in the upcoming Mario movie sequel, thanks to some Pillsbury cookie packaging (no, I am not kidding). This promotional box of cookies also featured the Mario series’ Comet Observatory, which is the home of Rosalina and the Lumas, as well as a Bowser Jr. graffiti tag.
So, will we see Bowser’s spawn crop up during the Nintendo Direct tomorrow? And will Rosalina actually be voiced by Ariana Grande as some currently suspect? Well, there is potentially not too much longer until we find out!
What else are you hoping to see in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer tomorrow?
