‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Creator Jenny Han Teases ‘Big Milestone’ in Upcoming Movie
The Summer I Turned Pretty still has a major storyline to conclude.
Following the news that the coming-of-age TV show, based on the beloved book series, would continue its story via film, creator Jenny Han — and cast members Lola Tung (Belly Conklin), Gavin Casalegno (Jermimah Fisher), and Christopher Briney (Conrad Fisher) — appeared on the Thursday, September 18 episode of the Today show and dished some details.
Savannah Guthrie pointed out how the season three finale did not feature Belly and Conrad’s wedding — unlike in the third book — and asked the burning question every fan wants to know: “Do we get a wedding in the movie?”
“I can say that there is another big milestone for Belly, so we’ll continue with that journey,” Han, 45, coyly responded.

As for when fans can expect a film, the New York Times best-selling author said, “It’s still a little too soon to say”, noting, “We don’t know when it’s coming out, but not next year. We still have to make it.”
“Sarah Kucserka, who’s my co-showrunner, and I have finished a draft, so we’re chugging along,” she shared.
On Wednesday, September 17 — the same day the series finale dropped on Prime Video — the news about the film was revealed at the show’s red carpet celebration in Paris, France.
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due,” Han said in a statement, per the Amazon MGM press website. “’I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”
