  • The Prime Jedi’s mural on Ahch-To in The Last Jedi could lead to the focus on his story in Dawn of the Jedi, creating a direct connection.
  • The possible link between Rey’s new Star Wars movie and Dawn of the Jedi could unify the franchise’s timeline in a brilliant way.

Star Wars producer Simon Emanuel has just introduced a fascinating new name for the upcoming Star Wars movie originally thought to be titled Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi, which could signal a thrilling change. As one of the most exciting projects on the list of Star Wars’ upcoming movies, Dawn of the Jedi was billed as a story set 25,000 years before the prequel trilogy, making it easily the earliest project in the Star Wars timeline among all Star Wars movies and TV shows; however, updates on Dawn of the Jedi have been minimal.

Now, Star Wars producer Simon Emanuel has just used a new title for Dawn of the Jedi that could reveal what’s to come. In an interview with SFX Magazine, Roberts said:

“James Mangold’s
Jedi Prime
is set thousands and thousands of years before [the original trilogy], and I’m really excited to see what happens there.”

Although this doesn’t constitute confirmation that the title for the movie has changed, Emanuel’s use of this title has incredible implications for the upcoming movie.

“Dawn of the Jedi” is a new era in Star Wars canon, and it’ll be very different from the Dawn of the Jedi era seen in Star Wars Legends.

The Prime Jedi Was The Founder Of The Order

Luke Skywalker and Prime Jedi in Star Wars The Last Jedi

The Prime Jedi has already been introduced in Star Wars canon, which could set the stage perfectly for Star Wars’ new movie to focus on him. In the sequel trilogy movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Prime Jedi’s mural could be seen on Ahch-To, the island where Luke Skywalker went to hide after his Jedi Temple fell. Although the island carries significance in that sense already, its importance in Star Wars extends far beyond Luke Skywalker or Rey.

Ahch-To was the location of the first Jedi Temple, founded by the Prime Jedi. This could have massive implications for Dawn of the Jedi (assuming that title hasn’t officially changed). Simon Emanuel’s comment could very well signal that the upcoming movie will be the Prime Jedi’s story, establishing the very origin of the Jedi themselves. Not only would this be an unbelievable addition to the entire Star Wars franchise, but it could also form a direct connection to Rey’s new Star Wars movie, set 15 years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Ahch-To was the location of the first Jedi Temple, founded by the Prime Jedi.

Although details about Rey’s upcoming Star Wars movie have similarly remained under wraps, the movie will likely see Rey establishing a Jedi Order of her own, especially given the movie is rumored to be titled Star Wars: New Jedi Order. As Rey already has a connection to Ahch-To, this may be the site she chooses to begin her Jedi Temple. If that were the case, these two new Star Wars movies could link together beautifully.

Although these possibilities are speculative, it would make sense for Star Wars to weave together these new movies. Following the end of the Skywalker Saga, the franchise will need a way to unify the larger timeline, and showing the ways the newest Jedi Order is inherently connected to the very first Jedi would be a brilliant way to do it. Although a new title has not been confirmed, this new Star Wars interview could nod toward a massive update for Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi.
