But that’s a safe term filmmakers often use to promote their projects at the highest pedestal, even if it means smartly using wordplay. This year, India’s list includes Shadows of the Moonless Night, Amma Ariyan, Chardikala, September 21, Balan: The Boy, Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business, Gudgudi, Spirit Of The Wildflower and First Ray Films Slate. However, only the first two (Shadows of the Moonless Night and Amma Ariyan) are the India’s official entries for Cannes 2026 sections, and are qualified to get an official screening.
