Emma Stone Sings Along to ‘Good Luck, Babe’ in Bugonia
Being a Yorgos Lanthimos film, every song and every dialogue is bound to have a meaning that could be absurd or nihilistic. However, during one of the scenes in the film, Emma Stone’s Michelle Fuller is singing the lyrics to Good Luck, Babe by Chappell Roan in the car.
Given her collaboration history with Lanthimos, the song likely refers to the denial of identity that Michelle Fuller is telling herself, because the song’s lyrics seem to hint at it.
With that gritty and sarcastic ending, it makes perfect sense why Yorgos Lanthimos and composer Jerskin Fendrix would choose a song like ‘Good Luck, Babe’ for the character of Michelle Fuller, and that is indeed where the genius lies.

How Bugonia Plays on the Trope of Conspiracy Theorists
Well, the film revolves around two conspiracy theorists who are the protagonists of the film. Believing that aliens from the Andromeda galaxy have already arrived on Earth, the two kidnap Emma Stone’s Michelle Fuller in hopes of extracting information from her.
Being the CEO of a big pharmaceutical company, the police and almost all of the city are looking for Michelle. However, the twist in the tale comes when you start to question who to believe.
With the stereotypes that conspiracy theorists are often nuts, the audience perspective slowly shifts throughout the entirety of the movie, until at the end, when that big reveal hits. Naturally, Bugonia is one of the finest movies of 2025.
