The Ba***ds of Bollywood Review
Shah Rukh Khan’s The Ba***ds of Bollywood is Om Shanti Om meets The Studio and has given Hindi cinema a much-needed good director in Aryan Khan.
Aryan Khan, who made his directorial debut with The Ba***ds of Bollywood, has hit it out of the park with deft direction, strong writing and engaging screenplay.
If you love Bollywood and everything about it, The Ba***d of Bollywood will take you on a fun ride with larger-than-life characters, hilarious meta humour and eccentric scenarios straight out of a blockbuster Bollywood musical.
The 7-episode show makes for one fun ride from start to finish with almost laugh-a-minute jokes, some standout performances and starry cameos.
Having said that, the show is not without its flaws. For a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously, The Ba***ds of Bollywood suffers from cliches that we have seen in numerous Hindi films.
Also, the pace dips a bit in the middle and some of the abusive language, especially in the first episode, is highly forced instead of flowing organically.
Barring “Tenu Ki Pata”, the songs barely leave an impact and a few star cameos are hit and miss.
The Ba***ds of Bollywood Star Cast Performances
Bobby Deol is a scene stealer. This is unlike anything he has done and he absolutely nails it. Aryan Khan has presented Bobby like a true-blue superstar, as he plays in the show.
Also, I especially loved his scenes with his son. They are hilarious.
Lakshya is a star in the making. He proved with Kill that he can fight like no other star and with The Ba***ds of Bollywood, he displays his range as a movie star.
The ever dependable Raghav Juyal is outstanding as Parvaiz and brings the house down with his antics. Watch out for the sequence when he meets his favourite hero.
Sahher Bambba shines as the female lead and is a complete natural. Anyaa Singh, as Aasmaan’s manager, delivers a solid performance. She needs to be seen more in films and shows.
Manoj Pahwa gets the star treatment a talent like him truly deserves. He is simply phenomenal.
Manish Chaudhari is first-rate, though he gets little scope in the later episode. This is a perfect comeback for Rajat Bedi, who gets some of the most hilarious scenes. It is so good to see him back on our screens.
Other characters like Mona Singh, Gautami Kapoor and Vijayant Kohli have provided good support.
The Ba***ds of Bollywood Final Verdict
Aryan Khan is going to be one of the most sought-after directors if his work in The Ba***ds of Bollywood is anything to go by. The Ba***ds of Bollywood is a fun and frivolous show with loads of meta humour and wild cameos.
The Ba***ds of Bollywood Rating: 3.5/5
