A news source claims that Shah Rukh Khan was considered for DJ’s role, which Aamir Khan ultimately took on. In a similar vein, Sharman Joshi was finally cast as Sukhi, a part that Hrithik Roshan was considered for. Given how deeply embedded Aamir Khan’s portrayal of DJ and Sharman Joshi’s portrayal of Sukhi are in popular culture, it is difficult to envision Rang De Basanti with any other cast.
