Doomsday’ Leak Teases X-Men Joining the MCU’s Biggest Movie Yet
Some of the biggest X-Men characters have been inadvertently confirmed for Marvel’s next Avengers movie.
The unlikely source of the reveal? A bag.
First spotted on social media by alleged makeup artist Giovanna Ponci — and later reported by outlets like TechRadar and ComicBook.com — the tote bag showed stylized headshots of the film’s main cast.
The X-Men revealed are:
The bag appears to be a piece of merchandise given to those working on the film. Whether or not Ponci was allowed to post it on social media remains to be seen, but her Instagram has now been made private.
There are some who suggest the move was a Disney-blessed marketing ploy. After all, it’s got people talking.
One commenter on X says this is only half the picture, posting a mock-up of what the other side of the bag could look like. It features a similar grid of heroes they predict will be in the film.
This grid features the likes of Doctor Strange, Hulk, Star-Lord, Storm, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Vision.
In fairness, there may be more truth to this post than people realize. Avengers: Doomsday is poised as the biggest Marvel movie ever, with a massive cast of legacy characters. It’s unlikely they could be contained by one side of a tote bag.
For instance, there are compelling rumors all three big-screen Spider-Man actors are reprising their roles. However, neither Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield nor Tobey Maguire appear on the side of the bag we can see. This may suggest that they are on the bag’s opposite side.
So while we may be looking at many of the Marvel characters set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, this is far from the final assembly.
One more compelling detail: the bag shows The Fantastic Four in one corner with Reed’s son, Franklin, in the other. Could this represent Franklin’s split from his family? That’s certainly the theory for the movie’s story, which could see Doctor Doom abduct the young prodigy.
