Warning: spoilers ahead for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 finale.
The time has come. Yes, we’ll always have summer, but The Summer I Turned Pretty is officially over. Well… kinda.
The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 finale aired on Wednesday, September 17 with a runtime that was damn near movie-length. Luckily for TSITP fans, that runtime is something we can get used to — Jenny Han confirmed that the series will soon conclude with a feature film, one that explores the last “big milestone left in Belly’s journey.”

Fans are also hoping that the movie will answer a lot of the questions the season 3 finale left us with — after all, that ending was pretty vague. Below, dive into our brief recap and unpack all the unfinished business left on Cousins Beach.
So, how did The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 finale end?

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 finale, which also served as the series finale, ended with Belly and Conrad finally professing and accepting their love for one another. After Conrad surprises Belly in Paris for her birthday, under the guise of a work conference in Brussels, the two rekindle and share an intimate evening (perfectly set to Taylor Swift’s “Dress”) before Belly questions the root of their decades-long love affair.
But it only takes a few minutes for Belly to come to her senses and realize that #Bonrad has and always will be endgame — and like in any classic rom-com, she chases after him through a Paris train station and they reunite in a train car before it leaves. “Conrad… I choose you of my own free will,” she declares to a teary-eyed Conrad. “If there are infinite worlds, every version of me chooses you in every one of them.”

Elsewhere, Jeremiah and Denise finally take the leap of faith and take their roommate relationship to the next level, sharing a romantic kiss in the kitchen while Jere prepares a feast for food influencers and critics. Taylor set it up for him — taking the initiative as she always does, which is something she’ll be tapping into even more as she agrees to move to San Francisco with Steven, who will be launching his start-up with Denise in Silicon Valley. Despite Steven and Denise’s impending move, Jere and “D-Nice” don’t seem afraid of what the future holds for them. Adam and his youngest son finally reconcile, with Adam putting forth the most effort we’ve seen in three seasons to connect with his children and be present in their lives.

The episode ends with Belly finally leaving Paris and returning to Cousins with Conrad, standing on the back patio of the beach house and looking out at the water hand-in-hand. “I didn’t go back that summer. But eventually I did,” she says via her iconic voiceover. “Nothing beats coming home after you’ve been gone a long, long time. And just as it always had, the beach house held a million promises of summer… and what just might be.” There’s no epilogue, but there is a photo montage of Belly and Conrad celebrating Christmas in Paris, wearing those same pajamas from that fateful Christmas break.

The “scrapbook” closes on a handwritten note from series creator and original trilogy author Jenny Han: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love you’ve shown The Summer I Turned Pretty all these years. Whether you’ve been with Belly since the very first book or joined us with the show I’m so grateful you’ve made Belly’s story part of your summers. We put our whole hearts into this show and we’re so thankful to you for coming along with us on the ride. Maybe we’ll meet you again one summer in Cousins. Until then — all of my love always, Jenny.”
Just hours after the finale’s premiere, Han revealed the development of The Summer I Turned Pretty movie, confirming that we definitely will be meeting again for one last summer in Cousins. But before we meet… we need some answers.
