Emma Watson has admitted she ‘misses’ acting nearly seven years on from her final appearance on the big screen.
The actress, 35, is best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series, starring alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint.
It catapulted her to fame as she played the fan-favourite character in all eight movies, from 2001 until the final Deathly Hallows chapter in 2011.
However, Emma has not acted in a film since 2018.
Despite her love for the job, Emma said that she did not miss ‘selling’ her movies, which she branded ‘soul-destroying’.
She explained: ‘I think I’ll be honest and straightforward, and say: I do not miss selling things.

‘I found that to be quite soul-destroying. But I do very much miss using my skill set, and I very much miss the art. I just found I got to do so little of the bit that I actually enjoyed.’
Emma continued to Hollywood Authentic: ‘The moment you get on a film set, you don’t get very long for rehearsal.
‘But the moment you get to talk through a scene – or I got to prepare and think about how I wanted to do something – and then the minute the camera rolls, and getting to just completely forget about everything else in the world other than that one moment – it’s such an intense form of meditation. Because you just cannot be anywhere else.
‘It’s so freeing. I miss that profoundly. But I don’t miss the pressure. I forgot it was a lot of pressure.’
In the same interview, Emma recalled how she was ‘really afraid’ when she shot to fame as a young child star.
Emma’s last movie credit was for Greta Gerwig’s Little Women adaption, a coming-of-age period drama film.
During her hiatus from the camera, Emma was enrolled into Oxford University, studying Creative Writing.
After wrapping her final scenes on Harry Potter, Emma spent the following decade landing leading roles in hits such as The Circle with Tom Hanks, Disney’s Beauty And The Beast live-action remake and thriller Regression with Ethan Hawke.
Last year, Emma split from Brandon Green, son of former British Home Stores tycoon Sir Philip Green, following an 18-month romance.

In July, Emma was banned from driving for six months after she was caught speeding in an Audi worth £30,000.
She sentenced at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court after admitting driving at 38mph in a 30mph zone – her fourth driving offence in less than two years.
Emma received three points on her licence, in addition to nine points from driving offences in October 2023, November 2023 and January 2024.
She was also told to pay £1,044 in fines, including £660 for a guilty plea, a £264 surcharge and £120 cost.
