Rapper 50 Cent is opening a new film studio in a Louisiana city, making him the latest celebrity to leave Tinseltown for alternative pastures.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, is opening his new film studio in Shreveport, Louisiana, which he views as “a beacon of inspiration and creativity.” Jackson’s studio, G-Unit Film & Television, was created in 2003 and has already released several films and television shows, including the documentary 50 Cent: The New Breed and the Starz television series Power.

“As someone who has always believed in the transformative power of music, film, and television, I’m beyond excited to introduce the expansion of my G-Unit Film & Television through the launch of G-Unit Studios right here in Shreveport,” a statement from Jackson to Fox News Digital read. “From the gritty narratives of the streets to the compelling stories that define our era, G-Unit has always been more than just entertainment; it’s a platform for voices that need to be heard, stories that need to be told.”

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux has shared Jackson’s enthusiasm for the new studio, describing his city as “the perfect backdrop for this endeavor.”

Jackson’s new studio outside of the Los Angeles area comes after he said last year that the city was “finished.” The rapper’s claim was referring to the looting of a Nordstrom store in Canoga Park that saw over $100,000 in merchandise stolen.

Jackson has also not shied away from making controversial comments, criticizing President Joe Biden on social media for going on vacation last year and telling him to “get the f*** up.” Earlier this year, the rapper slammed New York City‘s plan to give $53 million to immigrants, suggesting that former President Donald Trump could be “the answer.”

Besides Jackson, another celebrity looking to other cities aside from LA is Mark Wahlberg, who stated last year he wants to create “Hollywood 2.0” in Las Vegas. The actor said he wants to create 10,000 jobs with the new studio, which he said would help the local residents “first and foremost.”
