Little-known Jason Statham movie is his ‘best ever’ and on Film 4 tonight
This ”not your typical action movie’ also marks the fourth collaboration between director Guy Ritchie and actor Jason Statham, their first since 2005 film Revolver
An action film hailed as the ‘best ever’ performance from Jason Statham and billed as ‘not your typical action movie’ by fans, will air on Film 4 tonight.
Wrath of Man features a star-studded cast, directed by Guy Ritchie with Jason Statham, Holt McCallany, Josh Hartnett, and Rocci Boy William. The film also marked the fourth collaboration between director Guy Ritchie and actor Jason Statham, their first since Revolver which was released in 2005. Wrath of Man, released in 2021, follows a mysterious and quiet man known as “H” (Jason Statham) who joins a Los Angeles cash-in-transit company, Fortico Security, to exact revenge for the murder of his son during a heist.
Through a timeline that jumps back and forth, H reveals deadly precision skills, eliminating robbers who target his truck, all while infiltrating the underworld to hunt down the specific criminals responsible for his loss, culminating in a violent, personal showdown. A five star review on Rotten Tomatoes saw one film fan write: “This is not your typical action movie, it’s done a bit differently & it is an absolute banger. This movie is very dark, cold , mysterious, gangster, most reptile Jason performance ever. It’s very well done, it stands out from most other movies. Top 3 Jason Statham movie along with the transporter 1&2 & the crank series, excellent 10/10 movie.”
Another felt similar as they also gave it five stars and added: “Definitely my favorite Guy Ritchie movie. Love the way this one skips around in time. This movie also has my favourite one liner.” “This movie surprised me with how good it was and I really enjoyed the whole revenge storyline with Jason Statham’s character,” said another.
Another posted: “A really awesome movie. I love guy ritchie and don’t usually like Statham except for lock stock and snatch but he is really good in this movie. The music score is so good and sets the dark ominous tone of the movie so well and the action is great, cinematography, editing, pacing for the most part. Great supporting cast and just overall beautifully bad ass masculinity that we aren’t getting anymore and I really miss.”
“Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham rarely disappoints,” said another film fan. “Great cinematography, well written and very good direction. Whole cast convincing in character. Lots of violence, action, fast paced and thrilling ride. Statham pulling out all stops on this one. Great viewing and highly recommended.”
Another review revealed they hadn’t expected to like the action film: “I was expecting nothing from this movie, I just thought it was another low budget shooter. It turned out to be a big surprise. It has it all. You won’t get disappointed.” “Excellent movie for the action genre. Classic Statham,” said another review which gave the film four and half stars.
Wrath of Man will air on Film 4 on Tuesday 23 December at 9pm.
